The inshore sailors got perfect start

The Garmin Round Denmark Race inshore started as planned on Saturday the 3rd at 12:00.

The inshore boats are sailing on a shortened course that goes around Anholt to Helsingør, where a scheduled mandatory pit stop awaits as the expected storm low pressure system approaches.

The current status is that the leading boats have rounded Molshoved, while the rest of the fleet is off Sletterhange. Leading the pack is the Dutch J/122 Jetstream, followed by the two Xp44 boats, Xbox and Xar.

On the offshore course

On the offshore course, the Eliott 35 SS Palby Marine is leading. Skipper Michael Møllmann and crew are off the southern coast of Skåne and approaching Ystad at a speed of 8 – 9 knots.

The next boat is the 2Star participant Polised Manxq, a First 40.7, which is currently entering the Øresund strait. The three singlehanders Stig Wittrup in Moody 45, Esben Pilegaard in X79 and Robert Kuper in a 45 foot sloop, are still resting a mandatory 12-hour rest period after the grueling 222 nautical mile leg from Esbjerg to Skagen.
