The heritage

Round Denmark Race has its roots in the Danish singlehanded sailing movement brought to live by Morten Brandt when he created Silverrudder Challenge in 2012.

In 2015 the event inspired the sailor and fisherman Erik Venøbo to take it to the next level and make a solo voyage round Denmark on the inside. His efforts Jan Møller who is the fastest Dane on the non-stop solo circumnavigation of the planet. In 2016 they formed the association Skandinavisk Singlehandsejler Forening.

The mission of the association is a.m.o. to increase the knowledge, safety and acceptance of single- and shorthanded sailing in Northern Europe. In 2016 and 2019 they conceived and managed a multi stage singlehanded only version of Danmark Rundt.

In 2020 they decided to withdraw from event management and handed over the event to Morten Brandt and his company Shorthand ECM. He rewrote the concept and renamed it to Round Denmark Race inshore & offshore and joined forces with Sailing Aarhus and the Aarhus International Sailing Center.
